“I had been working in the studio all day and just couldn’t stand it any longer…grabbed my gear and headed out to a reservoir/recreation area about a half hour from where we live. The reservoir is so low because of the drought, but the hills that surround it are just beautiful, wild poppies and lupine dotting the roadsides and pastures. Painting that piece just made me so happy—such a peaceful afternoon with just me and my dog and all that open land.”
