Republic Ice-Scream

The term nocturne was coined by the artist by James Abbot McNeil Whistler to describe paintings tht captured subjects bathed in evening light. Over the years of painting the streets of downtown Charleston, some of West’s most dramatic paintings have been those painted at night. Night life on King Street is always colorful and Mr. Fraser took advantage of the bright colors reflected in the evening glow outside of Republic Ice Cream.
