In the coastal zone of South Carolina you can find a plethora of plant species– the most notable are the Southern Red Cedar, Cabbage Palm, Wax Myrtle, and various species of Holly. In the marshes you will also see Spartina Alterniflora, a type of cordgrass, as well as Salicornia. In the hard marshes along the coast of South Carolina are hummocks of cordgrass which have become popular with the shy spoonbills.
