South of Broad on King Street sits the Miles Brewton House. Built in the late 1700’s for a wealthy planter, the home has one of the best examples of the chevaux de frise iron work–an 18th-century defensive iron spike arrangement atop the brick wall meant to deter intruders. In Bill’s painting you see the corner of the wall and the historic structure next door that at one time served as a stable.
